Sammy Hassan joined Silverado in 2008 with an extensive background in gerontology and broad experience leading support groups and facilitating community education spending his first three years with Silverado Hospice Los Angeles then joining the Communities with our Administrator-in-Training program. Sammy was the Administrator of our Beach Cities Community in Redondo Beach from December 2012 to August 2017, when he moved to the Calabasas community and served as a Senior Administrator until February of 2019. He holds a BA from UC Berkeley and created a Gerontology major with courses from Molecular and Cell Biology, Medical Anthropology and the School of Social Work. Additionally, he is completing the Master’s in Long-Term Care Administration from USC.
Sammy was awarded the 2012 California Assisted Living Association’s Innovation in Quality Award for his associate Meditation Program, the Rising Star award from Silverado in 2014, and the Silverado Administrator of the Year award in 2015. Sammy was born and raised in Los Angeles and began his career with dementia as a caregiver & engagement aide while in college. Sammy has also spent many years living in New York and Chicago working in major cancer hospitals helping patients and family members to live with dignity. Sammy holds his Residential Care Facility for the Elderly Certification, is a Certified Director of Assisted living through Argentum and the Senior Living Certification Committee, and is Dementia Care Certified through Silverado. Sammy is married with two little girls who give him gold stars and remind him to play, laugh and dance.
