Albert and Celia’s Wedding Celebration

November 17, 2014

After 15 years of sharing life together, Silverado Hospice patient Albert Crowley decided to ask his longtime girlfriend Celia to be his wife. Celia’s son, Richard, found a minister to come to Albert’s nursing facility and conduct the service. In front of a few close family members, Albert and Celia said their vows and wed. It was a simple, pure statement of love.

When Albert’s Silverado Hospice team heard about the wedding, they asked if they could plan a special celebration. A few days later, their families and the hospice team gathered in Albert’s room and celebrated the beautiful union of these two souls. The team provided a beautiful cake, flowers and even a veil for the lovely bride.

Celia put her veil on immediately, holding her flowers close to her chest. The cake was shared by all, and everyone in the room could feel the deep love and commitment that flowed between the couple as Celia sat bedside and fed the cake to Albert. He then looked at her in adoration and said, “I am so happy I married you.” Celia leaned in and gave him a kiss.

At Silverado, enriching the lives of hospice patients means positively impacting an entire family. Special moments like the one shared between Celia and Albert are cherished forever. These are the moments that inspire us to do what we do.
